What does a pediatric dermatologist do?

A pediatric dermatologist is a doctor who treats the skin, hair and nail health of children and teenagers up to the age of 16. His job is to diagnose and treat such dermatological diseases as molluscum contagiosum, viral warts, impetigo, juvenile acne, ringworm, scabies and atopic dermatitis.

When to make an appointment?

An appointment should be made with the child in the following cases, among others:

• worrying changes (spots, papules, blisters, etc.) have appeared on the child's skin, mucous membrane or nails;
• there is a suspicion that the child has ringworm, psoriasis, AD or other dermatological disease;
• the child scratches frequently, experiences severe itching,
• the child's hair falls out excessively.

Scope of consultation

During the consultation, the pediatric dermatologist:

• conducts a history and dermatological examination;
• makes a diagnosis and informs about further treatment,
• makes referrals for examinations, consultations with other specialists, hospitalizations.

What does a visit to a pediatric dermatologist look like?

The consultation lasts 15 minutes and takes place in a friendly, non-stressful atmosphere for the child. The doctor takes a medical history and examines the child, such as looking at skin lesions - on this basis he may order additional diagnostics or make a diagnosis and give recommendations related to the treatment process.

• A pediatric dermatologist admits patients up to the age of 16.
• Before the appointment, it is a good idea to prepare your child's medical records (for example, examination results that may be relevant to the doctor).
• You should appear for the appointment no later than 15 minutes before the start of the appointment.
• Implementation of the service is possible only at the medical facility indicated during the purchase.

Pediatric dermatologist - teleconsultation

A telemedicine consultation can be used by any patient, regardless of location and previous medical history.

During the telephone consultation, the doctor will complete any services that are remotely possible. However, during the course of the medical interview, it may turn out that an in-patient visit is necessary, without which a correct diagnosis and treatment selection cannot be made. 

The specialist will try to connect with the patient three times.

Important information: The doctor can only see the results of tests and consultations performed at the Damian Medical Center. You can send a scan of your medical records from other facilities, e.g. test results, to: wynikibadan@damian.pl at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. It will then be attached to medical record and the doctor will see it at the appointment. When purchasing a consultation, we strongly request that you use a phone number registered in Poland - it is only possible to have a telemedicine consultation from a Polish phone number.
