Remember! Preventive examinations at the gynecologist: cytology, breast ultrasound and gynecological ultrasound should be performed regularly by every woman, including at a young age and in full health. These examinations make it possible to detect various abnormalities, including changes that can lead to cancer. You can purchase the tests at the Damian Medical Center store.
A consultation with a gynecologist is recommended for every woman at least once a year.

What does a visit to a gynecologist look like?
Before the gynecological examination, the doctor will want to get information from you about your health, past illnesses and surgeries, and medications you are taking. You can expect to be asked, among other things, when you had your last period, whether your cycle is regular, whether there are any troubling complaints, whether you have been pregnant and whether there is a family history of gynecological diseases. This information is especially important during your first visit to a particular gynecologist. Based on the history, the doctor will decide what tests to perform during the visit.
A gynecological visit may include:
- gynecological examination with a speculum - examination of the reproductive organs, collection of material for cytology (cytological examination of the collected material is charged extra);
- two-handed gynecological examination - palpation of the size and mobility of the reproductive organs;
- breast examination - evaluation of the mammary glands in the first half of the menstrual cycle;
- medical recommendations - possible referral for additional tests: Breast ultrasound, gynecological ultrasound, mammography.
If you are younger than 26, you can ask your gynecologist about the possibility of being vaccinated against the human papilloma virus (HPV), which is the main cause of cervical cancer.
Details of the consultation
- The consultation is intended for adults.
- The consultation lasts approximately 15 minutes.
- You must arrive no later than 15 minutes before the appointment.
- Implementation of the service is possible only at the medical facility indicated during the purchase.

Preparing for your visit
- It is advisable to go to the gynecologist for an examination in the first half of your menstrual cycle - ideally, the appointment should be 3-5 days after the end of your period.
- Preparation for the visit depends on the purpose of the visit. If material is to be taken for cytology, 2-3 days before the visit, you should not have intercourse or apply gynecological preparations (such as vaginal globules) to the vagina. Before going out, it is a good idea to wash the intimate area with water or intimate hygiene product. Do not perform vaginal irrigation or use deodorants.
- On the day of your appointment, it is a good idea to wear comfortable, easy-to-remove clothing. Examinations may require undressing from the waist down (genital examination) or from the waist up (breast examination).
- There is no need to remove pubic hair. The presence or absence of hair does not affect the examination.

A telemedicine consultation can be used by any patient, regardless of location and previous medical history.
