Lumbar spine densitometry is a non-invasive X-ray examination using the DEXA method, which assesses bone mineral density in the area most at risk of fractures due to osteoporosis. The result enables early detection of the disease and the implementation of effective treatment.
This test is especially recommended for:
- women in the peri- and postmenopausal period,
- men over the age of 50,
- patients with chronic diseases (diabetes, RA, asthma),
- individuals after long-term steroid therapy.
No referral is required for the examination. You will receive your results immediately.
Preparation:
No special preparation is required for the examination. Please bring your ID and inform the staff if you are pregnant.
Contraindications:
- pregnancy,
- barium or iodine contrast examination within the last 3 months,
- recent fracture of the femoral neck.
