The Obesity Treatment Program is the result of many years of experience of an interdisciplinary team of specialists. It was created for adults struggling with overweight and obesity, offering comprehensive care at every stage of treatment. The program was developed in collaboration with physicians certified by the Polish Association for the Study of Obesity (PTLO) and the Polish Obesity Research Society (PTBO), dietitians, psychodietitians, psychologists, and physiotherapists.

Scope and Structure of the Program
The program includes:
- Conservative treatment: education, lifestyle changes, psychological and dietary support, individualized nutrition plans, physical activity tailored to the patient’s abilities
- Pharmacological treatment: selection and monitoring of weight-loss medications in line with the latest guidelines
- Surgical treatment: qualification and preparation for bariatric procedures, pre- and postoperative support in selected centers
- Postoperative care: monitoring results, preventing complications, supporting the maintenance of treatment outcomes
A key role is played by the coordinator, who oversees the treatment process, schedules appointments, reminds patients about tests, and serves as a constant point of contact.
Stages of the Obesity Treatment Program
1. Tests, Diagnosis, Action Plan
- Initial qualification and diagnostics:
- Completing medical and dietary questionnaires
- Consultation with the attending physician
- Referral for and analysis of necessary diagnostic tests
- Development of an individualized treatment plan:
- Setting therapeutic goals
- Selecting appropriate treatment methods (conservative, pharmacological, surgical)
- Preparing a nutrition and physical activity plan
2. Implementation of the therapeutic program (up to 12 months, with the possibility of continuation)

Preparation for tests
1. Body composition analysis
- No alcohol for 24 hours before the test.
- No caffeinated drinks for 12 hours before the test.
- Avoid physical activity immediately before the test. Ideally, refrain from exercise for 12 hours prior. Otherwise, results may be inaccurate. Measurements should be taken after rest.
- Do not eat immediately before the test. The last meal should be eaten at least 2–3 hours before the visit. If possible, it is recommended to do the test on an empty stomach. Measurements should always be taken at the same time of day.
- Empty your bladder 15–30 minutes before the test.
- Do not undergo the test directly after a shower/bath.
- Feet must be bare during the test (do not apply creams or lotions to feet and hands).
- No jewelry or watches should be worn during the test.
- The test should ideally be done in underwear or light, close-fitting clothing – try to dress similarly for each test to minimize measurement errors.
- It is recommended not to perform the test during menstruation.
There are some absolute contraindications when body composition analysis cannot be performed:
- cardiac pacemaker,
- electrical devices in the abdominal cavity, such as “Ability”,
- metal implants in the body (except cochlear implants or an insulin pump),
- pregnancy,
- epilepsy.
The test can be performed by people with orthodontic braces, dental implants, a cochlear implant, an insulin pump, or bone screws/plates.
Subsequent measurements should preferably be done at the same time of day.
2. Laboratory tests
To ensure your laboratory test results are as reliable as possible, please read the short guidelines below.
Blood collection
Day before collection – last meal by 6:00 p.m., light dinner, fasting in the morning. Avoid heavy physical effort, alcohol, and excessive caffeine for 24 hours before blood draw.
Make sure you are not experiencing an infection on the day of blood collection!
Urine collection
Collect the first urine after a night’s sleep, after prior washing. Collect from the middle stream. Abstain from sexual activity 24 hours before the test. Do not perform the test from 2 days before menstruation until 2 days after it ends, and not during menstruation.
Fever or infection makes it impossible to perform the test. Please inform us of this before your visit.
