What does a proctologist do?

A proctologist diagnoses and treats diseases of the colon and rectum. Among the conditions dealt with by this specialist are:

• hemorrhoids;
• anal fissure;
• anal fistula;
• anal abscess;
• diverticula of the large intestine;
• cancer of the large intestine;
• anal cancer.

Indications for consultation with a proctologist

A proctologist sees patients of all ages who have symptoms indicating diseases of the end of the digestive tract. Complaints that should raise concern include:

• anal itching;
• rectal bleeding;
• anal pain; painful bowel movements;
• a feeling of incomplete bowel movement after passing stool;
• gas and fecal incontinence;
• palpable lesions in the anal area.

Scope of the visit

During the consultation, the proctologist:

• takes a thorough history;
• performs a physical examination;
• makes a diagnosis and informs about further treatment,
• makes referrals for specialized examinations;
• issues sick leave.

• A visit to a proctologist does not require special preparation. It is only necessary to take care of hygiene and bring with you an identity document and the results of tests relevant to the doctor, if they have been performed.
• Menstruating patients should visit before or after their period.
• The consultation lasts 15 minutes.
• You should arrive no later than 15 minutes before the appointment.
• Implementation of the service is possible only at the medical facility indicated at the time of purchase.

Proctologist - telemedicine consultation

Telemedicine consultation can be used by any patient, regardless of location and previous treatment history.

During the telemedicine consultation, the doctor will carry out any services that can be performed remotely. However, during the course of the medical interview, it may turn out that an in-patient visit is necessary, without which a correct diagnosis and treatment selection cannot be made.

The specialist will try to connect with the patient three times.
