Who is it for
Whole body MRI is intended for individuals who want a complete picture of their health or have concerns about serious conditions. The test is particularly recommended for those who wish to check the condition of their body as part of preventive healthcare or have symptoms that require detailed diagnosis. It may also be indicated for individuals with a family history of cancer or other conditions that require monitoring.
How to prepare for the test
- It is advisable to bring any previous test results, such as X-rays, CT scans, or other tests that may be helpful for diagnosis.
- Before the test, remove any jewelry and metal items, and avoid wearing clothing with metal parts.
- If the patient has implants – joint/endoprostheses, hearing implants, vascular ports, or other foreign bodies resulting from medical procedures, the patient MUST present a certificate stating there are no contraindications to performing an MRI. This certificate must be issued by the healthcare provider where the implant was placed or the implant/device manufacturer. If such a certificate is not available, the technician has the right to refuse to perform the test.
- A referral is not required for the test.
How the test is performed
- Arrive about 30 minutes before the scheduled test time for registration and completion of medical documentation. Patients are invited directly to the Reception at the Radiology Department.
- Pregnant patients should inform the staff about their condition.
- For the test, wear comfortable clothing without metal parts. Before entering the room where the test will be conducted, you will need to leave your wallet, payment cards, phone, jewelry, belt, etc., in a locked cabinet provided in the department, where you can store your personal items.
- For head and eye socket exams, makeup and hair spray are not allowed, as cosmetics may contain metal particles that interfere with the results.
- During the test, it is important to remain still.
- You will maintain constant communication with the medical staff through a microphone.
- The test lasts about 60-70 minutes.
- Immediately after the test, you can take medications and drive.
Regular medications should be taken as recommended by the attending physician.
