Hip Joint Ultrasound
Every muscle attaches to bone structures via tendons. The point where a tendon attaches to the bone is called the enthesis. Excessive strain can lead to damage of the enthesis, a condition known as enthesopathy.
Ultrasound imaging of the hip joint primarily focuses on evaluating the tendon insertions of the hip girdle muscles. It allows for the quick and painless visualization of enthesopathies affecting the biceps femoris tendon, hamstring tendons, gluteal muscles, or thigh adductors. Hip ultrasound can also be used to diagnose joint effusion, degenerative changes, as well as soft tissue injuries surrounding the joint.
