What is VERACITY?
VERACITY is one of the most advanced non-invasive prenatal tests (NIPT). It is a next-generation test that allows for the detection of fetal chromosomal abnormalities at an early stage of pregnancy.
The material used for the test is a maternal blood sample. During pregnancy, cell-free fetal DNA passes through the placenta into the woman’s bloodstream. The VERACITY test involves isolating cell-free fetal DNA from the blood sample collected from the pregnant woman and then subjecting it to detailed analysis.
VERACITY can be the first screening test performed during pregnancy.
Who should take the test?
The VERACITY test can be performed by any pregnant woman who wants to gain knowledge about fetal development.
The test is particularly recommended for women who:
- are over 35 years of age (the risk of certain genetic disorders increases with age),
- have a family history of chromosomal number or structural abnormalities,
- have had genetic abnormalities of the fetus in previous pregnancies.
VERACITY is also worth performing when the results of previously conducted screening tests (e.g. the PAPP-A test) indicate an increased risk of a genetic disorder.

Worth knowing:
Microdeletions are small losses of DNA that occur with the same frequency in women of all ages. Their size is only about 2.5 Mb, but they can cause serious diseases. The VERACITY test detects abnormalities as small as 0.5 Mb, making it the most reliable test available on the market.
An example of such a condition is the 22q11.2 deletion, known as DiGeorge syndrome. This genetic defect is the second most common after Down syndrome and occurs on average in 1 out of every 1,000 live births. Early diagnosis is crucial for selecting effective therapy.
The test also detects the presence of the Y chromosome, which makes it possible to determine the baby’s sex (at the parents’ request).
Why VERACITY?
The VERACITY test is one of the most accurate tests for detecting Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and Patau syndrome. It detects more developmental abnormalities than traditional first-trimester screening tests and can be performed as early as the 9th week of pregnancy (earlier than the PAPP-A test and first-trimester ultrasound).
