Lumbar spine MRI (L-S) is an imaging test that provides a detailed evaluation of the spine's structure in the thoracic section. This test does not require the use of contrast, making it a safe and comfortable procedure, especially for individuals who cannot receive contrast agents. The MRI allows for the assessment of intervertebral discs, joints, ligaments, as well as the spinal cord.
Who is it for
This service is intended for individuals who experience pain in the chest area, have posture problems, suffer from back pain in the thoracic section, or have degenerative changes or injuries. Lumbar spine MRI without contrast is also helpful in diagnosing problems related to spinal nerves and structural defects in this part of the spine.
How to Prepare for the Test
- It is advisable to bring any previous test results, such as X-rays, CT scans, or other tests that may be helpful in diagnosing.
- Before the test, remove any jewelry and metal objects, and avoid wearing clothing with metal parts.
- If the patient has implants, such as joint/endoprostheses, hearing implants, vascular ports, or any other foreign bodies resulting from medical procedures, the patient MUST provide a certificate stating that there are no contraindications for the MRI test. This certificate must be issued by the medical entity where the implant was performed or by the manufacturer of the implant/device. If such a certificate is not provided, the technician has the right to refuse to perform the test.
- No referral is required to perform the test.
